Georgetown 24/7 Plumbing is a plumbing service line based in Georgetown, KY, the seat of Scott County. It exists for one reason: when water is where it should not be, a person should answer the phone at any hour and send a licensed plumber. This page says plainly what we do, what we do not do, and how to check any plumber before you hire one.
We keep the page short on promises and long on facts. There are no staff biographies, no award lists and no customer counts here, because none of those help you decide whether a pipe repair is being priced fairly. What helps is knowing how a call works and who is allowed to do what under Kentucky law.
What happens when you call
The process is the same at noon and at 3 a.m.
A person answers
You describe the problem and give the street address. We do not use online forms, so nothing waits in an inbox.
We sort the urgency
Active water, sewage backup and a leaking tank go to the 24/7 line. Slow drains and dripping taps can usually take a same-day appointment when available.
A licensed plumber is sent
Dispatch assigns a plumber, and you are told what to do while you wait, such as shutting off the main valve.
You hear the price first
After the plumber has looked at the problem, you get a clear price before work starts. If it does not suit you, you can decline.
What we handle and what we do not
Honest limits save you a wasted call. If your problem sits on the right, we will say so and point you elsewhere.
We handle
- Leaks, burst pipes and water service lines.
- Drain and sewer cleaning, camera inspection and repair.
- Water heaters, from repair to installation.
- Toilets, faucets and garbage disposals.
- Sump pumps and basement water.
- Commercial plumbing calls.
We do not handle
- Gas utility work or gas mains.
- Foundation repair.
- Septic tank pumping.
- Electrical work.
- Work that needs a licence we do not hold.
Need a plumber now?
A person answers the 24/7 line, every day of the year.
Gas, electricity and the point where we stop
With a gas smell, step outside immediately, then phone Columbia Gas of Kentucky's emergency line or 911 before you contact any plumber. We work on water, drain and vent systems. The gas utility owns the service line and the meter. Flood hazards near live circuits also come first, so stay out of wet rooms until the power is off.
We also do not pump septic tanks or repair foundations. If your basement leak turns out to be a cracked wall, we will tell you which trade to call. You can see the plumbing side of that problem under basement waterproofing.
Permits, licences and the Kentucky rules behind them
The state plumbing code sits in 815 KAR Chapter 20, and KRS 318 governs who may work. Permits cover a new installation, a fixture or waste opening that is moved, a house sewer or water service that is new or replaced, and a backflow preventer added to an existing service. A water heater that is new or replaces an old one needs one as well. Fixing leaks, cocks and valves, or clearing a waste line, is exempt.
A permit can be pulled by one of two people: a master plumber with a Kentucky licence, or the owner of the house they live in. Journeymen operate under the master's permit. The regulation text shows a $50 base fee, $14 per extra fixture or appliance and $50 per inspection past the first five, though current fees are worth confirming with the state.
How to verify any plumber with the state
Ask for the master plumber's Kentucky licence and the permit for your job. Then confirm both with the Kentucky Division of Plumbing, part of the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction at dhbc.ky.gov. This takes a few minutes and works for us or for anyone else.
We do not print a licence number on this site and we do not ask you to take our word for it. A plumber who objects to being checked is a reason to look elsewhere.
How we price
The price depends on the problem, the access and the parts, so we do not quote a number over the phone for a job we have not seen. After a plumber looks at it, you get a clear price before work starts. The factors are the time of day, how hard the pipe is to reach, the materials and whether a permit is part of the job.
Most homeowners policies cover sudden and accidental damage rather than wear or maintenance, so ask your insurer before you file. Our services page lists the jobs we price this way.

Not for jobs we have not seen. We can explain what drives the price, and you get a clear number after a plumber looks at the problem and before work starts.
Yes, and you should. Ask which master plumber is on your permit and verify it with the Kentucky Division of Plumbing.
Leave the building and call Columbia Gas of Kentucky's emergency line or 911 from outside. A plumber should not be your first call.
